In a previous study of 29 alleged cases, by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), only a third of cases were classified as temporary. The FDA advises users of Viagra, Cialis or Levitra who find their hearing suddenly deteriorate to immediately stop taking pills and visiting doctors.
British researchers are not sure how Viagra can affect hearing, but that may be the chain of chemical reactions that the trigger has already affected the inside of the ear. “”Medical practitioners involved in prescribing these drugs need to be alert about the possible side effects,”” said Dr Afroze Shah Khan, from ENT (ear nose throat) section of Charing Cross Hospital.
