About Levitra
Levitra also known as vardenafil is a treatment for erectile dysfunction. It works by increasing the flow of blood to the penis which helps a man to get and maintain an erection during sexual intercourse.
Levitra is usually available in two form, a disintegrating tablet which dissolves in the mouth and should not be taken with water or tablet form.
Levitra dosage
If you are using the disintegrating form of Levitra, the recommended dosage is 10mg once a day an hour before having sex.
For the oral tablet, take one tablet of 10mg daily one hour before sexual intercourse. However, men over the age of 65 years should take a 5mg dosage daily an hour before sex.
You should never take more than one dose in 24 hours, in case this happens, contact the doctor immediately.
Levitra interactions
There are many medications that interact with Viagra and should be avoided as they lead to serious complications.
When used with nitrates, it can lead to fainting, dizziness, heart attack or stroke. You should not use Levitra with any of the following drugs:
- Isosorbide
- Posaconazole
- Nelfinavir
- Fluconazole
- Dronedarone

The common side effects of Levitra
The common side effects of Levitra are:
- Redness in the face, arms, neck
- Stuffy nose
- Sneezing
- A warm feeling in the body
- Loss of the upper chest
However, these symptoms usually go away as the body adjusts to the medicine but if they become bothersome, you should contact your doctor.
Severe side effects of Levitra
In case you notice any of the severe symptoms below, you should contact the doctor immediately.
- Hearing loss
- Feeling of weakness and unusual tiredness
- Blindness or decreased vision
- Itching, hives
- Tightness, discomfort and pain in the chest
- Pain in the jaws, back and arm
- Cold sweats
- Vomiting and nausea
- Puffiness, swelling or skin rash of the tongue, face, eyes, lip, eyelids.
Other rare side effects
There are other less common side effects which includes:
- Abnormal ejaculation
- Diarrhea
- Sore throat
- Back pain
- Fever
- Indigestion, heartburn
Precaution
Levitra is only safe for men only and should never be taken by women especially pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Also, one should also avoid drinking excess alcohol when taking Levitra as it increases the risk of the side effects such as blood pressure, dizziness and headache.
Grape fruits or the juice from grape fruits affects the way Levitra is metabolized and increases the risk of side effects.
